About the founder
Dr. Liang Li is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Alberta (https://spaces.facsci.ualberta.ca/liweb/). He is an elected fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (Academy of Science). He is a Co-Director of The Metabolomics Innovation Centre (TMIC) (https://www.metabolomicscentre.ca/)
His laboratory develops state-of-the-art technologies for quantitative and comprehensive analysis of small molecules, such as high-performance chemical isotope labeling liquid chromatography mass spectrometry technique and in-depth lipidomics technique. He was a Co-PI of the Human Metabolome Project in which his laboratory was involved in constructing the Human Metabolome Database (HMDB), which has been widely used by the metabolomics community for unknown metabolite identification and data interpretation.
“Liang Li is a Canada Research Chair in Analytical Chemistry. He is best known for developing ground-breaking techniques for advancing proteomics and metabolomics research using mass spectrometry. He is a pioneer in creating metabolomics tool for comprehensive analysis of small molecules with transformational impact in disease biomarker discovery and biology studies. His innovative analytical tools, embodied in commercial products, advance the life sciences.”
